The ALTA Klinik is a privately operated medical center that specializes in radiology – the use of various imaging technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) to diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases.

In the course of carrying out imaging procedures for the early detection and prevention of various diseases over the past several years, the physicians at the ALTA Klinik have established a particular expertise in the area of prostate care. Using MRI, for instance, the medical center's specialists are able to visualize any relevant tissue changes in the prostate glands of patients with abnormal PSA levels. A number of years ago, Dr. Lumiani, the center's director, also succeeded in developing an MRI-guided procedure that enables radiologists to carry out precisely targeted biopsies of suspicious areas of tissue in the prostate. The access route used during this biopsy procedure is transdermal (through the skin) and not transrectal (through the rectum).

In addition to our physicians who specialize in the area of prostate care, our comprehensive team includes experienced internists, cardiologists and orthopedists. Every day, we carry out a full range of examinations to secure the prevention of heart attacks and strokes and to detect tumors and other pathological changes in the body.

Prostate Biopsy

It is essential to find the cause of an elevated PSA level before performing a prostate biopsy!

The conventional approach to prostate care has been to perform a biopsy in patients whose elevated PSA levels suggest the presence of prostate cancer. This is because tissue samples are required to either confirm or weaken the suspicion of cancer. The problem with this conventional approach is that the task of locating a suspicious area of tissue in the prostate using ultrasound is a little like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Early Detection & Prevention

Comprehensive Medical Checkups

Precise and comprehensive examinations of what is happening inside the body can tell us a lot about a person’s health. This is why these examinations form the basis of our early detection & prevention approach to medical care. We focus in particular on the following two areas:

  • Heart attack and stroke prevention
  • Early detection of cancer and other pathological changes

PSA Level

Is your PSA level elevated? It is essential to first confirm the presence of conspicuous tissue changes in the prostate before performing a biopsy.

When does a PSA score give cause for concern?

PSA levels of under 2 ng/ml are generally regarded as normal and PSA levels between 2 and 4 ng/ml are generally regarded as borderline, and therefore in need of regular monitoring. In some cases, however, patients with PSA levels of under 2 ng/ml may also be advised to undergo regular testing.

Prostate Cancer

Fear of Prostate Cancer

Elevated PSA levels are often a sign of prostate cancer.

Many men with prostate cancer experience no symptoms whatsoever, especially during the early stage of the disease. This is why PSA testing and early detection are so important. Early detection can greatly increases the chances of successful treatment.

PSA Level Elevated?

Is your PSA level elevated?

Most men hear the term PSA level for the first time in the context of a routine examination at their doctor’s office or when being treated by a urologist. Before this, many men will not have given any thought at all to their prostate gland, let alone the concentration of PSA in their blood. The reason for this is that prostate disorders often cause no symptoms until they have reached an advanced stage.

Prostate Enlargement

It is generally advisable for men with prostate enlargement and elevated PSA levels to have their prostate glands examined by a doctor. The combined occurrence of prostate enlargement and elevated PSA levels in men above the age of 50 may be related prostate cancer.

Detecting Cancer and Other Pathological Changes in the Body

Total Body Scan for the Detection of Tumors, Inflammation and Other Tissue Changes

This early detection & prevention program is recommended for individuals who are generally interested in early detection and prevention as a means of avoiding cancer and maintaining their health. The program was also conceived for individuals with a genetic predisposition to a specific disease or who are thought to be at risk of a certain disease for other reasons.

Am I at risk?

Ignoring the risks can increase the likelihood of advanced cardiovascular disease and life-threatening events.

People tend to concern themselves with the subject of early detection & prevention when a family member or a friend is suddenly struck by a life-threatening illness. All of us are subject to certain risk factors that become more significant as we age. Special medical examinations can be carried out to determine the degree to which we are at risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke. These examinations give us an opportunity to respond appropriately at a sufficiently early stage.
