Blood Vessels - Risk of Stroke and Heart Attack

Determing the Risk of Stroke and Heart Attack

Angiography is used to detect arterial stenoses (narrowing of the arteries), thus allowing the physician to reliably diagnose the patient's condition so that timely measures can be taken to prevent a stroke or heart attack.

Assess your risk for stroke or heart attack

The vascular system is also referred to as the "highway" of the human body as it transports blood and nutrients to the body's cells. Hence, proper vascular function is absolutely indispensable for human health.

Neck (carotid) arteries

Artery status is assessed using MRI angiography. The carotid arteries are particularly important in this regard as they transport blood to the brain and can provoke a stroke if occluded. We also perform artery examinations using ultrasound, a technique that allows for comprehensive preventive care.

Pelvic and leg arteries

Pelvic and leg artery scans are taking on increasing importance as circulatory disorders often arise in these arteries and can cause erectile dysfunction in some men.

Coronary arteries

Coronary artery examinations are an indispensable diagnostic tool for assessing the risk of heart attack. These arteries, which supply blood to the heart, can become stenosed (constricted) over time by calcium and fat deposits, and can ultimately become completely occluded and cause a heart attack.

CT coronary angiography allows us to precisely determine a patient's heart attack risk profile by visualising the coronary vessels - without invasive coronary catheterisation.
